Julia Bruce received a theatre degree from Simon Fraser University and then worked as a "serious" actor, director and writer. After a few years of this, Julia decided to leave the sodomy plays behind and focus on comedy. She moved to Toronto where she completed the Post Graduate Comedy program at Humber College where she won the Phil Hartman Award, which is given to the top student.
In February 2006 she beat out 1300 people to be featured in the Comedy Network's Corner Gas Comic Genius contest and was featured in the August issue of Chatelaine magazine as one of Canada's prominent female comedic talents. She has also appeared on NBC's Last Comic Standing and CBC's The Second City's Next Comedy Legend.
Julia works for Yuk Yuk's touring across Canada and has performed at numerous shows in New York. In 2010 she appeared at LAFF in Austin, TX.
